The sound was first uploaded to TikTok by @polyphony_digital in September 2026, and an animation of a lone pigeon by @electrocoil2 on October 10 passed 2.3 million plays. Through October the song spread as animations, remixes and YouTube Shorts, and people started searching "one little pigeon" and "kfc pigeon yodel" to find it. ## What does One Little Pigeon Meme (KFC Pigeon Yodel) mean? The one little pigeon meme is a song that sounds like a nursery rhyme and ends like a punchline. Over a fast drum-and-bass beat, a yodelling voice sings that one little pigeon is sitting in a tree, and that the rest got shot by KFC, or in some captions "popped." The joke is the old internet gag that fast-food chicken might not be chicken, set to the most cheerful music possible. People use the sound in two ways. Some make animations: a single pigeon on a branch, the empty spaces next to it, and a twist when the line lands. Others use the one little pigeon sound as an earworm under unrelated clips, game footage or remixes, because the yodel is instantly recognizable after one listen. It's a joke about pigeons and a fast-food brand, not about anyone real. KFC has nothing to do with the song, and the humor depends on how absurd the claim is. ## Why did One Little Pigeon Meme (KFC Pigeon Yodel) take off? The one little pigeon sound works because it is short, catchy and strange. A yodel over drum and bass is an unusual mix on its own, and the lyric is a complete joke in one line, so the clip loops well and sticks in the head. Animation took it beyond its creator. On October 10, 2026, the animator @electrocoil2 posted a short cartoon of one pigeon in a tree set to the sound, captioned "One Little Pigeon Sitting in a tree, the rest got shot by KFC." By October 24 it had 2.3 million plays and more than 300,000 likes. The creator's own follow-up, "Pigeonplops," posted on October 11, passed 1.2 million plays. From there it spread to YouTube Shorts, where channels such as Einsteinium, Storm24k and Hibiscusw posted their own versions, and the Memes ok channel published a video explaining the song. Google's autocomplete now suggests "one little pigeon meme," "one little pigeon sitting in a tree original" and "kfc pigeon yodel," and US searches for "one little pigeon" have been running at about the level of other current memes since mid-October. ## Where did One Little Pigeon Meme (KFC Pigeon Yodel) come from?
