Privacy Policy

What ViralMeme collects when you read meme pages and make memes from your photos, who processes it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

1. What this policy covers

This policy explains what ViralMeme (the "Service", at https://viralmeme.ai) collects, why, who else handles it, and your choices. It covers the website and the app you can add to your phone's home screen. By using the Service you agree to it.

2. Your photos, in short

  • Your photos are used only to make the memes you ask for and to check them for safety. For that, they go to our AI provider SeeAPI (images, videos and safety checks); fal is a backup image provider we may use when SeeAPI is unavailable.
  • We do not use your photos to train our own models, and we do not sell them.
  • What you make is private unless you share it. It is saved in Me, which only you can open; our team can see it when giving support or checking safety. If you tap Copy link, anyone with that link can see that one result. If you post it to the Feed, it appears there after our review, credited only as "a ViralMeme user", never with your name or email, and you can take it off at any time.
  • Only upload photos of yourself, or of people who said yes.
  • You can ask us to delete your photos, your results or your whole account at any time.

3. What we collect

  • Account. Your email and name, and your profile picture if you sign in with Google. Passwords are stored only as hashes. At sign-up we also note your IP address, a language guessed from your browser, and the source tag of the link that brought you, if any.
  • What you make. Your photos, who is in the meme, any caption you type, the meme and format you chose, and the result. Your browser shrinks each photo before upload (at most 1,280 pixels on the long side), which drops hidden data such as GPS location. Photos upload only after you sign in.
  • Credits. Your balance and what you bought, spent and got back.
  • Payments. Stripe handles your card; we never see your full card number. We receive the amount, currency, product, country, the email and name given at checkout, and Stripe's payment and customer IDs.
  • Support. What you send us in tickets or by email.
  • Visits and steps. The page you landed on, the site that sent you, campaign tags in the link (such as UTM tags or an ad click ID), your IP address, browser and country, kept under a random visitor ID in a cookie. Also some steps you take (such as opening the sign-in box, picking a pack, opening checkout or seeing the install banner) and which version of a page you saw. When you sign in, these records are linked to your account.
  • Technical data. Server logs, safety-check results, and the IP address and browser of each signed-in session.
  • Analytics. We count visits with pageview.click, a Plausible-compatible service. We may also turn on Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies.

4. How we use it

  • To make your memes. SeeAPI (or, as a backup for images, fal) receives links to your photos, the meme's format and any caption.
  • To keep the Service safe. When you tap Make, an automated filter checks your photos; a photo flagged then is refused before anything is charged. Before a finished video is shown, the photos and the video are checked again; if either is flagged, the video is withheld and your credits come back.
  • To store your results in Cloudflare R2 and keep your credit balance, including automatic refunds when a make fails.
  • To prevent abuse, for example by limiting how many accounts one IP address can open in a day, and to enforce our Terms.
  • To email you. A link when a video you made is ready. Possibly a reminder about something you started, such as an unfinished checkout (at most one every 3 days), or an offer if you have bought before. Reminders and offers have an unsubscribe link; after you use it they stop, but "your video is ready" notices still arrive.
  • To improve the Service. We measure which pages and channels work and test different versions of pages and offers, so visitors may see different versions.
  • To run the business. When an order is paid, our team gets an internal notice with the buyer's email, sign-up date, product, amount, time, country, and the campaign or search term that brought them, if any.
  • To answer you and send messages about your account.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Who else handles your data

  • SeeAPI (image and video models and safety filters), for each make, and fal as a backup image provider.
  • Cloudflare (hosting, and storage of photos and results) and our database host.
  • Stripe (payments).
  • Google (Google sign-in, and Google Analytics if we turn it on).
  • pageview.click (analytics).
  • Resend, or Cloudflare's email service (our emails).
  • WeCom (Tencent), the work chat where our team receives paid-order notices.
  • AI assistants our team uses to run the site (such as Anthropic's Claude), which may read support tickets or account records when a task needs them.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect the Service, its users or people shown in content.

6. Cookies and browser storage

  • Sign-in cookies keep you signed in. PARAGLIDE_LOCALE remembers your language.
  • vid is the random visitor ID (one year). utm_source keeps the source tag of the link that brought you (30 days).
  • Google Analytics, if turned on, and Google sign-in may set their own cookies.
  • Local storage keeps your theme, your landing details until they are reported, and when you dismissed the install banner. A meme you started before signing in stays in that browser tab until you sign in. The address of the last photo you used is kept so the next meme, and the Feed's "Put me in it", can start with it.
  • The home-screen app stores only an offline page on your device, nothing else.

7. How long we keep it

  • Photos and results stay until you ask us to delete them or your account. We don't delete them on a schedule.
  • Files sit at long, unlisted web addresses. Anyone who has a file's address can open it, so share addresses with care.
  • Our AI providers keep what they receive under their own policies.
  • Orders, subscriptions and credit history are kept for accounting, refunds and abuse prevention.
  • Visit and step records are kept to measure and improve the Service, with no fixed end date.

8. Deleting your account

Ask us by support ticket, or by email from your account's address. We then:

  • cancel any subscription, so you are not charged again;
  • delete your images and videos, and the photos used to make them, from our storage (a photo file another account also uploaded stays, since it is the same file);
  • delete the records of the videos and images you made, your sign-in details, sessions and reminder records;
  • remove your name, email, profile picture and IP address from your account, which stays only as an anonymous row, with your orders and credit history (kept for accounting, without the name and email given at checkout) and your support tickets (closed);
  • remove the IP address and browser from visit records linked to your account, and unlink your steps from it;
  • email you to confirm.

9. Security

The site uses HTTPS, and only our team can use the admin tools. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

10. Your choices and rights

  • See and download what you made in Me. Change your name in Settings.
  • Unsubscribe from reminders with the link in any reminder.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your data. Ask us by support ticket or email.
  • If someone uploaded your photo without your permission, tell us and we will remove it.
  • You can block analytics cookies in your browser or with an extension.

11. Children

ViralMeme is not for children under 13 (or the higher minimum age where you live). We don't knowingly collect their data. If a child gave us data, or a child's photo was uploaded without a parent or guardian's consent, contact us and we will delete it.

12. International processing

We and our providers may process data in different countries, relying on the safeguards those providers offer when data crosses borders.

13. Changes and contact

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will announce important changes on the site. Questions or requests: open a support ticket (Settings → Support Tickets), or email support@viralmeme.ai.
